Foundations in Woodturning is a week-long woodturning class at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. This hands-on class is designed for beginners and intermediate woodturners who want to build confidence using a wood lathe while creating beautiful, functional, and artistic projects.

Throughout this woodturning class, students will learn safe lathe operation, tool techniques, spindle turning, bowl turning, wood selection, sanding, finishing, and design fundamentals. The goal is to build confidence, improve tool control, and help each student continue their woodturning journey at home.

This woodturning class follows my standard beginner-friendly project structure, designed to help new turners build foundational skills while completing projects they can take home. Students will work through a variety of woodturning exercises and projects that focus on tool control, form, sanding, finishing, and creativity.

Optional projects may be adjusted slightly before class depending on class interest, available time, and materials.
